Dealing with distractions

Distraction, particularly from our phones, is arguably one the biggest downfall for us to effectively study or do work. The more apps and connections we have to these apps the more destructively they pull our attention. For example: my distractions are mail, WhatsApp and Instagram. At any given time when I study I might suddenly be filled with urge to check the mail because whatever reason. However, I believe I managed to create a personal method to block this distraction.

The method I use is simple, just like everything that actually works in life is a simple solution or design. Whenever I feel like checking my phone, Instagram, mail, or whatever other nonsense bothers my mind and does not let me focus on studies this is what I do: I write that urge down. If I want to check email I simply write email in my notes. Or to see if I got WhatsApp msn I write whatsapp and continue with my studies not touching the phone. The writing of what I want to do soothes the urge.
